On a summer morning, I was sitting by a small lake when I watched this goose swim around for a while. I took a few photos with the beautiful green background and was really happy with how they turned out.
While I was trying to photograph a Belted Kingfisher, the goose suddenly started to take off. I quickly moved my camera and managed to capture this photo of it lifting off the water, with splashes trailing behind it.
Later, while editing the photos, I noticed that one of its feet looked a little unusual. I went back through my other photos and realized that its foot was permanently positioned up above its back. I’m not sure what happened to it or how it ended up that way.
From what I could see, it didn’t seem to be hurting the goose or preventing it from swimming and living normally. Whatever happened, it has made it this far and hopefully will continue to do just fine. It's always interesting to notice little things like this that you might otherwise miss.
