While hiking along the ice-covered Yellowstone River, I came upon a decently sized stretch of open, moving water. That’s when I noticed a Bald Eagle perched in a tree on the opposite side of the river, overlooking the current.
I carefully made my way along the bank to get as close as I could without disturbing it. Suddenly, it took off and flew closer to my side of the river. I was able to capture this photo of it in flight as it moved down the river. After importing it to my computer I noticed it had an interesting tail feather that was partially black that made the moment even better.
