"After the Rain"

from $7.99

While waiting for a large rainstorm to pass, I checked the radar and saw that the storm was almost over. Looking out my car window, I could see a break forming in the dark skies.

Once the last little bit of the storm had passed, I quickly got ready and headed out onto a trail toward the river to see if I could photograph some wildlife. Before heading down the trail, I checked the radar again and noticed another storm was already developing in the distance. I figured I had maybe 30 minutes before it reached me, but I decided to go anyway.

As I hurried down the trail trying to make it to the river, I spotted a deer about 30 yards off the path. I stopped abruptly and moved backward behind some brush so I could get my camera out without startling it. Thankfully, it stayed around long enough for me to get my camera ready and carefully sneak back out from behind the brush.

I was able to capture a few photos before it finally ran off. I really love how this one turned out, especially with the lush green background surrounding the doe. In the closeup of the doe, you can even see a couple of raindrops still resting on her head from the storm.
