Living in eastern Montana for most of my life, I came to know the local bird species quite well, and they became one of my main subjects in photography growing up. Goldfinches have always held a special place in my heart. Fast flashes of yellow fluttering through green trees along lake banks or in backyards, they stand out and bring color to an otherwise dull environment. I sat camouflaged beneath this feeder in my backyard, waiting for that bright yellow to return, and captured this photo.
